Hansel & Gretel Play Poster Design
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP + ILLUSTRATOR
Hansel and Gretel, a tale by the Brothers Grimm, was published in 1812. The plot of this play is dark and twisted and involves two children lured into a woman’s home with candy. This poster’s typeface is influenced by Old English-styled fonts and has integrated illustrations of candy within some of the letterforms. Overall, this design was best complemented with dark colors and minimalistic composition.

My Creative Process
When designing this typeface and poster I began studying old English fonts and attempting to integrate shapes and forms that reflect the Hansel and Gretel story. I decided to design a custom ampersand symbol and place that as the visual holder instead of the repetitive candy. Then use those small candies in the type to accent the overall design and its context.
